Clean Up the World is a community based environmental campaign that inspires and empowers communities from every corner of the globe to clean up, fix up and conserve their environment. This past Friday, my students from the International Tourism Management Program at Bangkok University International College truly got their hands dirty… 15 Students and 9 Employees of the Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside spend about one hour collecting waste in the pier area as well as at the nearest klong. What treasures have been found? approx. 19 kg of waste made of straws, plastic cups/ bottles, rubber bands, food packaging, plastic spoons (entire pack), plastic hangers and over a 100 Styrofoam food containers….
At the Millenium Hilton Bangkok, 35 students and 20 employees found more than 46kg of waste in less than 30 minutes wrapped around the hotel and hidden in the bushes…. close to 200 straws, 70 plastic bottles/ cups, and tons of other plastic packaging, rubber bands, cigarette butts, etc…..
I would say it has been a true eye-opener for everyone….
